Well, I question everyone Why does the countries expect from South Africa to absorb so many illegal immigrants in the order of 3 to 4 million? can England, France or Germany cope with a sudden influx of 3 to 4 million people if the same happens to them. I am sure there would be riots in Manchester, Paris and Frankfurt. I don’t see why South Africa should feel obliged to take on these millions from their neighboring countries when they only had to support a few thousand South African refugees.

I agree with everyone above having humane concerns, neither do i am against giving shelter to the ppl who are coming across to SA with a hope to find the safe haven. but who will make me sure that they will not start the same as the Hutus or the tutse tribes are doing in Democratic republic of Congo.

what i mean by this is, Africa is full of tribal violence and tomorrow they will start crying for the equal rights here. In that condition, I hope not, Kenya like situation will arise and then who we will be blaming.

By saying so, I am not against giving them shelter. they can live here, but they need to go back as soon as the crises subside in their respective countries.

there is no reason to force SA to deliver the food and all the necessary sources to the foreigners to survive here. they are here on their own or in other words illegally. What do they expect? They are not registered tax payers and are responsible for an enormous amount of unsavory activities in South Africa. Who runs the drug dealing? Not South Africans. These illegal aliens are a nuisance and should be sent back to where they came from.

@Chad I agree wit hyou, no country can handle a huge influx of immigrants, but I fdon’t think that’s what we have here. we have immigrants who have lived her efor over 10-20 years and have homes and businesses... they were kicked out. That’s just terribly unfair, if they took the initiative and made something for themselves they shouldn’t suffer. Border jumpers need to be dealt with but what about those foreigners making something great out of South Africa?

@Derick The tribalism extends beyond just foreigners... we have to worry about the Xhosa vs Zulu thing in the ANC already.

@Melanie I totally agree with you. they are human after all, we can’t treat them like animals. Most would rather die in South Africa then go back to their countries. I just heard this morning that some of them had tried to commit mass suicide.

@Andy You’re right they are, at least, doing something... but is it the right action, and is it enough?

@Tommy The political situation is very confusing in South Africa, I personally believe none of the candidates are fit to rule. but I guess we have to work with what we have.

@Mbugua I don’t agree that South Africa is well known for xenophobia, however, I agree that this situation must have been simmering for some time before it exploded. Right now I am worried about the current situation and the future of South Africa.

@Joshua Spot on. The South African government has a lot to do to improve the lives of ordinary South Africans.
